Revolver Club Review - June 2008

REVOLVER – SATURDAY 21ST JUNE
REVIEW FOR SEENQUEEN

Having been blown away by the launch party in May, we were definitely not going to miss out on this fabulous venture by Oliver M, Logan and Evolved events at the fantastic superclub Scala in Kings Cross, so secured our tickets well in advance and made plans to ensure our timely departure from work, so as to take full advantage of the whole Revolver experience.

So, escaping at 11 p.m. we made our way to Scala and were once again greeted by what have to be the friendliest door staff we have come across in a long while. Ascending the stairs the distant sound of music got closer and closer and we entered the foyer bar where an expectant crowd of boys, girls, hunks and scene faces were gathering for the fantastic party that was to come.

Arming ourselves with refreshments, we entered the main room and to the delights of Italian stallion D.J. Pagano, who was in command of the decks positioned so as to have a fabulous view over the dancefloor, which quickly filled with revellers eager to take advantage of his funky and electro fuelled sounds which were pumping out across the room. As with it’s sister club venture Matinee London, no expense had been sparred on production, with the walls of Scala’s main room adorned with huge Revolver banners and the stage was magnificently dressed, with a massive glistening red star (which has quickly become recognisable as the Revolver logo) as the centre piece. The lighting was as good as we remember from the launch party, as was the whole feel of the main room.

On investigating further we were unable to find our way to the penthouse room, as negotiating the labyrinth of stairs seemed to get us nowhere, apart from bumping into familiar faces who seemed to think we knew the way better than them. On finding ourselves back down by the foyer bar, we came across Oliver M who gave us his customary welcome kiss and hug. Oliver has to be one of the friendliest promoters we know as well as being a great D.J. and we were very much looking forward to his set later, going back-to-back with Eduardo De La Torre.

Moving back into the main room, we found Pagano handing over to Guy Williams, for whom we have become quite a fan of his eclectic style of music, and he proceeded to take us on a fabulous journey straight into the sexy show. With the lights concentrating on the stage, the Revolver dancers grabbed everyone’s attention and entertained us with a truly breathtaking performance scantly clad in a mixture of leather and other alluring gear to set the pulses racing.

With the show over, it was up to Guy Williams to carry us through to the brilliance of the much awaited back-to-back set, although we managed to escape and sneak into the VIP glass room where we savoured the wonderful talents of Gabriele Cutrano. To have not one but two Italian Stallion D.J.’s in one night was a pure treat and he, like Pagano, sent us wild with his music choices not to mention fantastic looks. We could have stayed up in the glass room all night, which has a superb view of the proceedings in the main room below, but felt the need to venture back down after just a brief respite.
By the time Oliver and Eduardo hit the decks we were in a different stratosphere having fully succumbed the magic of Revolver as a massive clubbing extravaganza and Scala as an amazing venue. Our legs had completely given way and we were compelled to shrink into the normality of a Kings Cross early morning.

So did Revolver live up to all the hype? For us that has to be a resounding yes. When you consider that it attracts probably one of the most gorgeous and sexy of crowds of any club venture, including Matinee and Salvation, has a superb D.J. line up, brilliant production, fabulous stage shows and one of the best atmospheres we have come across in years, you couldn’t ask for more. Revolver aimed and hit the target in more ways than one and we cannot wait for the next party. Well done Oliver M, Logan and the team. (DISCO MATT)
